The world has advanced in knowledge and understanding in virtually all branches of education. The access and level of education the common man has today is unprecedented. But the world has patently regressed in all matters of the intellect.
The question is why? I think the answer is because there is a difference between knowledge and wisdom; between being intelligent and being wise. We have so much knowledge but no wisdom.
And why have become bereft of wisdom? In the Torah, it says “The fear of G-d is the beginning of wisdom.” I have been reading this line in my prayers for the past 10 years. I have a whole new understanding today of what it means.
We live largely in a G-dless generation where we are ridiculed and denigrated by “open-minded” people to believe in a transcendent power. No G-d = no wisdom. Hence the moral confusion where good people genuinely have an issue of distinguishing between good and evil.
