They say:
The meaning of life is to run
After all of life’s bountiful pleasures
But I never found happiness under the sun
Even though I enjoyed myself without measure
I have gotten everything a man ever wanted
Fed my voracious appetite and flaunted it
But all these desires have made me feel stunted
I have done everything that is filled with fun
Distractions and pleasures with abandon
But happiness further away it seems to run
I have traveled all over the glorious world
And I might have grown but the meaning of life
Dangles before me in a haunting taunting twirl
I accrued all the world’s wealth
Amassed money, land, and precious stones
Gave my life at expense of my family and health
And now I’m just withering, hurting and alone
They say:
I’m living the dream – but it’s not my dream
Because I’m buying emptiness
The more I pursue this happiness it seems
So I ceased listening lest my life worsen
And went after wisdom and purpose
And worked on being a giving person
And doing acts of loving service
The lottery of life I have finally won
I have found happiness above the sun
