Head On Your Shoulder

I bear a silent, sorrowed load,
I’m bowed as I’m breaking.
I feel forsaken on this lonely road,
Hope seeping out — I’m shaking.

But I pour out all my heart and soul
To push back this unyielding boulder.
Trembling, I slowly ascend from this toll;
I stand and fall on You — head on Your shoulder.

I absorb Your gentle Presence.
I breathe a sigh of relief, of belief.
I feel life stream to my essence —
I was never alone in this quiet grief.

And if hurt has crept into my bones,
Knees give way, longing woven across my face,
And I’m pressed with too many unknowns,
Emptied of strength — not even a trace…

Please, would You kneel —
As my heart grows colder —
Bring me close as I reel,
And place my head on Your shoulder.
